The Global Impact and History of sports

This is an individual project in which you will research the history of a sport…any sport…from anywhere in the world. You will research and compile all pertinent information into a PowerPoint presentation. Your presentation will include information about your selected sport’s

• origins;
• general information about who plays it and how it’s played;
• fan culture;
• information about its importance to local, national, or the world community at particular times in history (i.e. during war, at the Olympics, after tragedy, etc.);
• top players, coaches, teams;
• top prizes and awards;
• typical compensation for players;
• and its current role in the world community. 

So its a presentation on google slides. Don’t make slides to long of paragraphs. Mostly bullet points and then make a google doc with the things that im supposed to say in class. 

How will this be graded?   

PowerPoint – 30 points 

• origins (4 points)
• general information about who plays it and how it’s played (4 points)
• fan culture (4 points)
• information about its importance to local, national, or the world community at particular times in history (i.e. during war, at the Olympics, after tragedy, etc.) (4 points)
• top players, coaches, teams (2 points)
• top prizes and awards (2 points)
• typical compensation for players (2 points)
• and its current role in the world community (4 points)
• Citations (2 points)
• Works Cited List (2 points)

Presentation (8 points)

• Ability to effectively communicate information to audience (4 points)
• Ability to respond to questions (How well do you know your selected sport/Ability to answer questions) (4 points)
